Block Pendant Tutorial

First, you’re going to want to collect your materials.  I chose for my blocks to use an old art magazine, Chinese newspaper, and used gift-wrap for the outside of my pendants.  You will also need to use a lightweight material block for the inside.  I decided to use some old plastic dominos I found at a yardsale.  Also needed will be some type of glue and scissors.

The first thing you’re going to want to do is find a page in a magazine that you would like to turn into a pendant.  Then, measure out the size of the paper that needs to go around the block.  Do this in whatever manner you wish, but make sure it is big enough. Too big is better than too small in this case, because you can always cut extra off.

Next, you will want to lay your block on the paper like pictured, and glue two of the edges down.  I have found that it is easier to glue the short sides first.

The next step is to glue one of the long ends down and make sure it is secure and evenly distributed over your block base so that there are no wrinkles in the paper on the block.

Once you are finished with this, you will want to do the other side in the same manner.  This has given you your basic block for the pendant.

Now that you have your blocks created, you can start working on turning them into pendants and creating your own necklaces.

Here’s the original post that sparked it all.
