Homemade lipbalm

Here’s an easy and inexpensive way to make your own lip-balm that’s good for the environment too!!!

(This recipe makes 4-5 tubes of lip-balm)

1. Heat some water in a small saucepan on the stove and bring it to a boil.  Once it reaches a boil, lower the heat to medium.

2. While you’re waiting for the water to boil, mix 4 teaspoons of all natural beeswax beads, 2 teaspoons of all natural shea butter, and 3 teaspoons of almond oil into a glass jar with a lid.

3. After the water had boiled and you have lowered the heat, place the jar into the water (still on the stove), but make sure that the water is not above the edge of the jar.

4. Stir until all of the wax and plant butter has melted.

5. Once you’ve removed the jar from the stove, add 1/4 of a teaspoon of any concentrated, scented oil.  Peppermint is my favourite.  Put the lid on the jar, and shake vigourously.

6. Carefully, but quickly pour the melted lip balm into tubes or pots.  This is a great way to reuse old chap-stick containers, because you just pour this in and you have more.

7. Let it dry for 20 minutes, and you have inexpensive, eco-friendly lip balm.
